Trapped in the Piano

Happy Spring! There is nothing like watching new growth after a long winter. There is hope and we all need a little of that!

So, if you have been following, the tale of my mom’s piano continues. Since the piano has arrived in my house, it has needed some TLC and a good tuning. Strangely, the day after I had it tuned, it seemed like the piano tuning didn’t hold. As I was playing it, I wondered if my mom was sending me a message. Was she trapped in the piano?

What a concept for a new song. I hadn’t written for a few months and out came this song about being trapped in this black box and not being able to break free. My imagination went wild using the piano as a metaphor to describe how one’s stories, failures and beliefs form the box. When it is ready, I will share it with you.

On a similar theme, Henry Lees, Matt Gerber and I wrote a song called “Free This Love” coming out on May 1st (Love Day). It is a fun, funky pop song performed by Henry Lees that celebrates letting love out of the box, borne out of a collective wish to uplift and inspire human reconnection. This song was selected as a Top 10 Finalist for the 2022 USA Songwriting Competition and was recently chosen as a Semi-Finalist for the 2022 International Songwriting Competition.

For the past few years, I have been working on my new album called “Twilight Mist” which has explored the theme of healing and liberating mother and the divine feminine. I am so proud of this new set of 12 songs to launch in September 2023. These songs were recorded by Adam Fair at Villa Sound and orchestrated by film/TV orchestrator Robert Sibony. The incredibly talented Kevin Fox has performed cello on each song. There will even be a bonus track performed by my mother on the album! I cannot wait to share this project with you.

If you are feeling like something different and are in the Collingwood area this weekend, I will be joining sound healer and intuitive chef, Violet Roseman. We are offering an intimate evening of sound, flowers, and food. There are only a few spots left, join us for this delicious, sensory experience on Saturday night at 7pm.

I hope Spring has inspired you to create something beautiful for yourself.

Blessings to you, Heather xoxox
